About Us
At Da Capo Music Room, we treat everyone like family
Owners
Da Capo Music Room was opened in 2021 by Dean and Riki Foust after discovering there was an opportunity to provide the local community with all of their musical needs. Dean was born and raised in Farmington and had previously owned The Music Man on Main Street. After selling the business in 2001, Dean worked in the retail entertainment industry in New Mexico and Arizona. He and Riki moved back to Farmington in 2007 and after many years of working at the Adult Detention Center, Dean decided that it was time to return to his true calling--Music. He worked as a music teacher at a private school and rediscovered his love of teaching. That is where Da Capo Music Room was born. Da Capo means "back to the beginning" in music terms, and that is exactly where he went--Back to the beginning.
Dean and Riki have a teenage son, Riley. They also have 2 dogs, 3 cats, a fiesty parrot named Larry Bird and own an aquarium maintenance company. Dean plays with a local band, Breezin', and loves to be on stage with such talented musicians!
Our Philosophy
At Da Capo Music Room, our main goal is to make lessons enjoyable so that our students can be successful. One of our core beliefs is that we should never steal a student's smile. To us and our teachers, this means that each lesson will be educational, informative, and fun. We will use positive reinforcement to encourage our students at every turn.
We do provide a practice log and assign some home-based work each week. Without practicing at home, the progress will be so slow that it can discourage many students, both children and adults.
