Nick continues performing in various local orchestras and college music ensembles. While primarily focusing on classical music, he also has experience playing with rock and jazz groups.
Writing music has always been Nick's main way of expressing his creativity. Classical music is his main concentration in writing, however he enjoys exploring other music genres including electronic music. Mr. Doherty's compositions have been performed at SJC, UNM, and even a session with an orchestra in Europe. He also has several years of experience in music production, primarily using Ableton Live and Logic Pro.
The name "Da Capo" and it's meaning of "back to the beginning" has a special meaning for Nick. In 2016, a cycling accident resulted in a broken elbow and multiple wrist fractures requiring surgery. Havingto relearn violin technique from the beginning gave him a deeper appreciation for playing music. His teaching philosophy involves appreciating the little things in music, while striving for the technicalproficieny to express yourself through sound.
